Hornepayne, Ontario

A jewel of a town in the rugged Heartland of Northern Ontario, situated 400 km northwest of Sault Ste. Marie, via Highway 17 & 631, also accessible by air and rail. Have a watchful eye and your cameras ready for wildlife along Highway 631, legendary for moose, bear, partridge, and eagle sightings.

Hornepayne is a welcome oasis to both tourists and travelers alike. Here you will find comfortable accommodations/restaurants, services and an indoor mall. A distinctive feature of Hornepayne is it's abundance of lakes, streams and major rivers. For the avid fisherman, choose from the remote fly-in experience to a day of river fishing for trophy walleye or northern pike.

For the serious canoeist and rafter we have 2 major river systems that are not only a breathtaking white water experience but also sport some of the best speckled trout fishing south of James Bay.

Hunt bear , moose and migratory birds in the fall. Snowmobile / ski and try ice fishing in the winter.

For the recreationist, a trip to Nagagamisis Provincial Park, situated 30km north of Hornepayne on Highway 631 is a must, with beautiful sandy beaches, nature trails, modern shower facilities, boating, swimming and excellent fishing on a 20km lake.

The outdoors in Hornepayne offer tennis courts, baseball, signed walking trails and a small sand beach at Cedar Point. Indoors we have a swimming pool, saunas, indoor shopping mall and a 4 star hotel.

In winter, Snowmobiling is our number one tourist attraction. Hornepayne is the junction for 3 major Trans-Ontario snowmobile trails, with connections south to Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie, east to Hearst and Cochrane and west to Manitouwadge and Thunder Bay.

Come experience Hornepayne and see for yourself.
