Hello to everyone back home
I just began my 13 week placement with CHEO's Autism Intervention
Program. It is so amazing what this program can do for children with
Autism. I look forward to graduating this June. Hope all is well. I am
so excited to be coming home for a week in March for the March Break.
I look forward to being home soon.

Hows the Walleye angling up in hornepayne right at this time... |
| Date: January 29, 2007 Comments:
The Globe and Mail sports section has certainly been kind to
Hornepayne over the past few years. Remember the Gordon Lightfoot
thread, "Was it up in Hornepayne where the trains run on time".
Tim Wharnsby wrote an excellent article on Fred Boimistruck, ex
Maple Leaf, who now resides in our fine town of Hornepayne. Check it
out in the Jan 27 edition.

"Keep your Concordes & Cadillacs and yer little cotton sails.
Angels may ride the buses, but God rides the rails."
I thought this was a catchy little poem but don't know the author.
Can anybody out there shed any light on this??

Regarding the comment about the black cougar...
I remember as clear as day seeing a black panther/cougar/
personally I thought it looked like a jaguar, when I was about...lets
just say about 20 or so years ago. I spotted it while heading out
toward Cedar Point, just before that wide (at times fatal) turn
leaving town. It was in the 'meadow' by the hydro lines on the right
hand side.
I'm curious to know, what is the story with this animal?
Tracey |
| Date: January 22, 2007 Comments:
HEY THERE!!! i'm curious as to what this wolf project is about? is
it a study on the wolves around hornepayne? is there still a black
panther around there? at least i think thats what it was. oh no. it
was a cougar. seen often by hunters. anyhow, is it still around?
please let me know.
The Hornepayne Wolf Rescue Project was an
attempt by the Toronto Wildlife Centre to save a family of grey wolves
suffering from "sarcoptic mange" Until I can put together the entire
story, you can read more about here.......

Good Evening Fellow Hornepayners
Couple of tidbits.
- I saw a retirement message for Craig Krystia the other day on our
website. Craig is leaving the military after 20+ years and has
accepted a job on Vancouver Island.
- Like the guest album - Congrats Gord on accomplishing the Florida
Ironman. I just learned how to swim, did a triathlon but it will take
me a long time to train for a 13-15 hour event.
- I had a great visit in Nov. Truly enjoyed my visit with the Gr. 9
class, laying a couple of wreaths on Remembrance Day and spending time
with family and friends. Long drive but worth it.
- Keep this website going - I get lots of the news when I call my
parents but they don't tell me everything.
Gene - Is it possible to place archived copies of the Bear News on
this site? If not, that's OK.
PS - How are the wolves doing? I think that would be an interesting
story to share with your readers.
The Bear News hasn't been around for
several years. New paper is called the Jackfish Journal. I am hoping
to do a story with photos on the wolf project in the coming months. |

OK , this site was doing so well with all the talk of old memories,
there was finally no one bickering back and forth and before you know
it, someone makes a comment and it starts all over again. For the sake
of all the "adult" readers, let stuff like that go. whoever starts
obviously wants something in return so let it be! If you feed the fire
it will keep going. Please keep the good comments and ignore the rest. |
| Date: January 18, 2007 Comments:
Oh Boy... look what I started!!!
When I made that comment about Cheryls phone number, I was truely
laughing while I was writing it. I meant no harm by it. I certainly
wasn't trying to belittle the person who wrote it (not even that I
know who it is, because it was unsigned). I just wanted to point out
the obvious... with humour. I guess I should have put LOL afterwards.
Anyone who knows me, would know that.
Thanks Sis, for coming to my rescue! You're the best!!! MWA
Tracey... give that girl of yours a big hug for me. I'm happy that
I made such a good impression on her. You have such wonderful
children!!! I always enjoyed the days I was over to cut her hair!
Take Care!

Just stopped in to check out the website again, it's been awhile
and I can see somethings have been added. Looks GREAT!! I spent a
couple of years as a kid there and loved it, hopefully, someday I will
be back to see a good friend Nancy Litkee that is her maiden name, I
know she is married now.
Please say hi to Nancy for me whoever reads this. Nancy email me
sometime. p_miechkota1@yahoo.com

Loving my winter free winter season! LOL
It would be a first. Instead of travelling south this winter we
would be travelling north. Ironic? Isn't it?
But he's still paying for that trip to Mexico in the spring!!!!! |

I do not have a problem with people expressing their opinions! The
problem is when people are personally attacked for no reason! I do not
know about the rest of you, but I was taught that if you have nothing
nice to say then keep it to yourself.
I think that if you are going to submit a comment, especially a
mean one, that you should at least sign your name.

| Date: January 16, 2007 Comments:
everyone is entitled to their own opinions so who cares who says
what and if its mean......its just someone expressing how they
feel...and their is nothing wrong with that....it's better to be
honest then to lie...... |

I'm just writing to give a great big thank you to the Hornepayne
Snowmobile club, and their volunteers. With conditions the way they
are this year, they are still busting their humps. Not only for the
tourists, but all the town folk that have generously purchased trail
passes. I just wish they would have an open house at the club, so
everyone could see, or try to understand the work involved in this
kind of up keep. As far as I'm concerned, Hornepayne is not just a
great place to live, but a great place to take a vacation........ All
35 day's of er.....BE SAFE!! |

I do not think that my sister, Tammy, has any growing up to do! She
shared a memory, said a thank you, made a comment in defense of a
friend and got told off for it! And if you think that those people
have some growing up to do then you should read further back in the
comments, cause there have been some nasty ones!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Well, it is finally winter here in Ottawa, the snow is blowing,
visibility is practically nil, the woodstove is cranked. Its Monday
morning, my husband who works in Montreal has left, my two oldest boys
have moved into residence, and I am stuck here to shovel my 'long
country' driveway. I am sure my daughter will have alot of homework to
do, I can hear it now, "Mom, I'd love to help you out but..." (By the
way Tammy, Destinee still talks about her favourite hairdresser in
Hornepayne.)
As I was loading the groceries into the care I was thinking of
those walks to the Catholic school in winter, up that darn hill. Those
scarfs double-wrapped around the head sure did the trick.
Guess I'll nestle in, make some soup and think about the driveway
later.
Have a good one.

In regards to the comment made on Jan 8th, to Tammy, obviously you

phone # on the site and not her email address. Maybe you should take
your own advice, and worry about things that only concern you!! |

I use to live in Hornepaye in the early 70's and I was 10 years old
and my dad worked for the railway. I loved the town as it was nice and
small and friendly and we had a great time with winter fun, playing
outside hockey. I want to visit it again soon. |

| Date: January 09, 2007 Comments:
Hello to all just got in from London this morning. Lastnight was
one of the most interesting times i have had in a while partying at
the Hilton hotel and met some of the most interesting & intriguing
people in my life. There are better things than Hornepayne its so huge
down here. I just gotta say that you never know what fate will bring
you. |
| Date: January 08, 2007 Comments:
To Tammy,
you need to concentrate more on yourself and your own life, then on
what other people have to say. life will be so much easier for you if
you pay no attention to what others have to say that realy is none of
your concern. |

Happy New Year Everyone
I just miss Hornepayne!!! The shop party pictures were awesome
Gene! Missed out on my kielbasa and cheese this year :(. No one does
it up like Hornepayne for our kids at Christmas time, and for free to
boot!!! I hope you all appreciate it, because you don't find that kind
of generosity anywhere. It just wasn't the same this year for me, but
it was still a wonderful holiday season, full of family and love.
Gene, I just wanted to thank-you for putting on the memoriam page
and posting the picture of my Dad. You are doing a great job with this
site, and I wouldn't change a thing. It's nice to see new pictures go
in and I appreciate the time you take to make it all happen!
Take Care Everyone!!!
Tammy Smith
PS. I just had to say to the person coming down on Cheryl about
giving out her phone number... well, Canada 411 has it (phone book
too), along with her address for the world to see. I guess we are all
in trouble from murderers and pedofiles, because my phone number and
address is on there, and so is yours. If she wishes to keep her email
to herself, that is her business... wouldn't you agree? |

Happy New Year to everyone and let us hope that 2007 will be a more
prosperous year for our little community. Now that winter is slowly
arriving does anyone know what the Snowmobile Club has been up to?
Have not seen any notices anywhere for volunteers or meetings being
held, even though the trails are far from having enough snow, I was
hoping that regular meetings and work programs were happening.
Thank you Gene for your time and dedication to this web site, what
will we do when you step away from it???
Not going anywhere soon. The joy of the
internet is I can still do updates from Arizona if need be. |

Great comments on old memories!
Janice & Tom I loved reading all the old stories. We did have some
good times. Jan remember all the time we spent in the dairy washing
bottles, & helping your Dad. I'm sure we did a lot of complaining but
it sure didn't hurt us! I spent a lot of days & nights at your house.
I don't know how Carol put up with us.
