yesterday morning and was in a T-shirt and could not believe it, very
insane yes. what is the point of being in warm weather like this at
this time of the year and theres no Snow. pointless just saying i m
missin Hornepayne lotsa mouchas denaros lol!!! anyways im doing fine
still on the Job Hunt got a couple jobs in mind but the one i was
looking at and they need workers is @Jiffy Lube on Dundas street hope
i get er, cuz ill be up in a few months to Party hornepayne style. Its
funny im talkin of missin hornepayne lots which is true cuz everybody
in hornepayne or who lived there and is away at college or what ever
says that theres nothing like partying in Hornepayne at Craigs or the

Hello. I enjoy your site. I'm wondering if anyone can provide any
information on the town of Oba. I'm specifically interested in
lodging/outfitters/guides related to fishing the Oba River and lakes
in the area. I have come across a listing for "Oba Tourist Outfitters"
but can obtain no additional information. Any info. would be
appreciated. Email me at paull@gbengraving.com. Thanks |

New Year's Eve turned out to be a very memorable evening. My wife
and I were finishing off our Xmas holidays which had included an Xmas
stop in HPayne.
We boarded #1 at Capreol. As I was returning from the baggage car I
ran into Wanda, Dan and Vince Whent. After chatting with them I bumped
into Billy and Darlene Bean in the Park Car. This was after meeting
Mike Latoski and Remegio Dalcin on the Capreol platform. Just like the
75th!!
The VIA crew had the champagne flowing shortly after we left
Capreol. About 8:00 the "Aussie Choir" was already practicing "Auld
Lange Syn" (sp?). The head end crew must have wanted to catch the
Legion dance as we pulled into town about 11:30, plenty early.
I was tempted to run up to the Legion for a quick beer but was
daunted by the thought of being left behind.
Most people didnt believe HPN was my hometown, but after I gave
them a run down on the residents of Marathon Road - Bins' Harasymiw's
Menzies, Marions, Danes etc they were duly impressed. They were
fascinated (I think) with tales of summer evenings, sitting on tank
hill, watching the passenger trains pass thru.
In the midst of a wonderful snowstorm, sharp at 12:00, fireworks
erupted over the Jackfish River. The Aussie choir did a respectable
Auld Lange Syn, we replied with God Save The Queen and Waltzing
Matilda.
Only the untimely closing of the bar car somewhere beyond 12:30
shut down what would have been a breakaway. All in all, just an
excellent New Year's.
Who would have guessed.

Hello to my friends in Hornepayne!!
Wow! What an awesome idea and I must say "Bravo" for a job well
done. It is nice to see and read all about Hornepayne and the people
from the past and present. I am from the past, I would say about 11
1/2 years ago and it has sparked some very fond memories that I have
of Hornepayne. I hope to visit again some day when there are no black
flies!! Keep up the great work Gene.

This was my first Birthday, Christmas, and New Years away from home
and Hornepayne. I can truly say it sucked. the city as nothing on
hornepayne for the holidays.
I cant wait till I can get away from my job and come home. as much
as I like the city, hornepayne is home. I miss the small things I
wanted to get away from. Like people always knowing your business,
walking to the store, and even saying hi to people on the road( don’t
try that in the city).
Well I would like to wish every one a safe and happy 2006. Hope to
see you all soon.

I wonder if anyone there could help us. My cousin lived there, John
Frost (married to Mary.) He is in the education field, I think
college/university level. We have lost email contact with him. If
anyone knows his location, please contact him to call his Aunt Dottie
in California, USA. Thank you. Boomer38@sbcglobal.net
