If you haven't noticed Marjorie Miconi, the bickering has not been going on for some time now, so I might suggest that bringing it up now would not be a good idea.

Gene;

Is the Jackfish Journal an online thing or only in print?

Derrick Richards

The paper is available locally or thru subscriptions weekly. Susanne Chadwick is the new editor. Sorry I don't have her e-mail address.

Hi Gene, I don't often visit this site but I must say it's a good one!!! I would just like to say congrat's to Sue Chadwick for doing an exceptional job with the "Jackfish Journal" it is so nice to read a paper that actually has something to do with Hornepayne, not bashing Mr. Donney but just my opinion I actually look forward to reading the paper every Wednesday. The events in there are just wonderful!!! I would also like to add.... for everyone who is bickering on this site - please stop. It is not the place. Frankly I am a little bit embarrased about all the comments about the town people not doing their job... really people think about it for every "out of towner" that reads this we are looking pretty small right about now. Let's stop the fighting and start looking like the community that everyone expects us to be. David Jaremy I think you did an exceptional job on town council too bad you weren't there anymore. I have heard so many times that you were an excellent teacher and for our schools to have you as a principal... well is just overwhelming!! Don't let these people bother you and keep up the great work by seving your community.

My comment about "reading the trash" refers to some of the entries in Oct-Nov-Dec/03....which incidentally was my first look at the guest book. We can do better.

Some of my dearest memories are of Hornepayne; the highlight, of course, was the 75th Anniversary weekend. It was spectacular in every way...an absolutely awesome effort by all involved. Thank you for all the effort and planning that led up to it; it was a wonderful homecoming and an almost overwhelming sense of belonging.

On another note, I see many things have not changed...by that, I am referring to the on-site bickering. That needs to stop, people. You're giving us a black eye! I just subscribed to the internet, and I had to check out this site because Dad had mentioned it; I really was disappointed to be reading thru the trash; the petty bickering I've encountered should have no place in a guest book. Take your concerns to a council meeting, and come out of the shadows.

A finally a word of thanks to David Jaremy for the years of service he has given to Hornepayne. How many of us would do the same? Thank you, David, and our condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. He was a tall man in our community, too.

Hi Gene, On Dec 2, 1999, there was a comment made in the guest book to please enlarge the town map on this site. Since that date there has been numerous other requests for just that. Is it possilbe to improve that area? Now something that I was wondering; I'm not too familiar with computers but is it very hard to show monthly photos of the towns snow fall or just town pictures in general(weekend baseballs games, kids skating at the arena, people out walking etc). I don't know how long it takes to download a picture on this site but if it's something thats not too hard to do it is a new suggestion. Thanks for the enjoyable site.

Former Hornpayner:-)

I'll try to include some photos in the future but it can become time consuming. Hopefully demands for covering every event won't be an issue.

It's Linda Weaver here. A woman I worked with just told me here grandmother was born in Hornepayne. Her name was Marietta Chaquette. Anyone know any family history? You can email me at lnowlan@toronto.ca

Happy New Year everyone. Only a few more months till the picnic in Barrie!

Hi,

I'd really like to see your Town Hall Bulletin advertise what community events/sports/fundraisers happen and when, as we can't get your local cable channel.

Thanks

I attempted to do a community calendar a few years ago but must rely on groups or organizations to send me the info. Never received any. Calendar was always blank. Gladly do another.

As I reflect back on 2003, that magical weekend in August was the hilite in what was a pretty good year.

It was one of those events that enhances and improves with time. Thursday night at the Legion and the Saturday dance were just magical. At times they seemed to stand still and then it was over in a flash.

Most of us have moved on to larger communities and wider opportunities. There wasn't one of us though, that didn't long for the community and fellowship that comes with that small community. Yes, nostalgia made it all fit together for that

As the commercial says, film $25, plane ticket $750, H'Payne memories priceless.

Hello Hornepayne,

Just wanted to say Happy New Years to everyone, hope 2004 is better then 2003! We would also like to announce that we are now expecting our second child, due May 1st 2004. 'Lil Daemon is not so little and is now 17 months. We may make it down to visit Grandma Mary at the end of August but we will see how things go. All is going great in Guelph and we are really excited to share this news with everyone!

Hello Hornepayne!!

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! It has been awhile since I have been to this site. Whoa...

Congratulations to the "New" Mayor and Council! My prayers and thoughts are certainly with Ray and Joey, along with their families. And congrats to Sandor! Way to go! (wish I liked "soaps".)
