Gene you are the one behind this website right? Why don't

you have a chat room on this site too??? I would love to chat with

people up there!!!

Well it wouldn't take much would it?

thanks for your time

Rob G in T-Dot-O

Thanks Rob for your suggestion. I've been contemplating revising the entire site with a new look and also include a message board, if you are familiar with them. For this site, a message board  would prove to be more advantageous. It's very similar to the comment page we have now. Only difference would be the ability to start different subjects and follow the discussions on such subjects.  A chat room requires a moderator to ensure the discussions going on are appropriate for this type of web site.....Gene

Well hope to see my family soon

Some of the best memories of my life were spent living in Hornepayne (1941-61). Does anyone know where George Thrasher, Caroline Quinn,  Marriane  M'call, Bonnie Gay Taylor etc, live now. Would sure like to touch base with some of the old gang. Oh yes, Bradley Bourk as well.

Comments Page! I have enjoyed visiting your site I have never visited Hormepayne But read much about it. I can imagine it will be a close community and a very nice place to live. My Aunt J. Green settled there with her husband, and have relatives called Walton. My Aunt immigrated from Scotland and returned to see us in Coldstream Scotland in 1953. I was only 10 years old then but recall her visit. Thank you for your site it is fantastic! My regards to all my relatives over there in Hornepayne. Hope to visit you all one day. Hi!

I love coming on this site. I love to read messages from people that you used to know and lost contact with. Most of the people I do not know because I was not yet born. Hornepayne is a wonderful place. I can not believe that I will be leaving in September. I will always remember Hornepayne since I was born here and lived here for 17 years going on 18 years. I do not think that I will return here to live but I will always come back to visit my mom and dad because I know that they will be here for the rest of their lives! If you know me please feel free to e-mail me.

Bye

Hello Hornepayners:

I am a real old timer having lived in Hornepayne from the year of my birth, 1922, until 1930. My parents were Hugh & Ida Gourley, and I am the nephew of the late Samuel and Ina Gourley (later as a widow married to Taylor) and of Tom and Mabel Nicholson. I think the Hornepayne website is very impressive and the webmaster is to be congratulated. A small quibble: I would like to see a larger map of the town on the site. My, how it has grown in 75 years! Names I remember from the past are: Tompkins, Smith, McIntyre, Quinn, Riley, McEchern. Nobody down here (Virginia) can believe that I played hockey on an outdoor rink when the temperature was -70 degrees F. Maybe global warming was overdue in Hornepayne.

I would like 2 c, more information. I think that it would b a good idea if u guys put the history of Hornepayne in the site. I'm doin' a project on Hornepayne and it was very hard to find the history of it.That would make this site 100% perfect in any way to read bout hornepayne, plz put the history of how it originated.

Greetings from a different place and time....

Looking around the site has brought back many memories, good and bad - thanks for making it available.

One suggestion...A search engine and site map would make navigation easier. :o)

And to Wykid...I am sorry.

Just great to read the comments, and see some of the names from Hornepayne in days of yore. I was born there in the Red Cross outpost hospital in 1926.Spent 6years in England during the depression 1932 to 1938.Returned to Hornepayne, married Jean Paul in 1950,and we moved in 1966 to Capreol, and now reside in London.

Dan Whent and I worked during the summers in Herman Koskis planing mill on 3rd.Ave.for 25 cents an hour, when we were in high school.

Great web page, keep up the good work.

As one of the original pioneers or Hornepayne having come there in 1919 wnen I was 1 year old, I am extremely proud of the very impressive web page and my congratulations go to the geniouses who put the page together. I have often thought we did not toot our own horn enough to tell the world what a great place HORNEPAYNE is. Now we have the perfect media to get the story out that Hornepayne is a terrific place to be and a wonderful experience for any visitors eith in winter of summer.

Tell me more about your Chamber of Commerce; your Historical Society; your Boy Scouts activities; your anniverary plans; your commercial activities and opportunities and more.

All the best for a bright future. Did somebody say anything about a local museum - especially about Railroad memorabilia?

Guess I've said 'nuff

H O R N E P A Y N E. My, what fond memories I have of you. Heck, I remember the day I was born in the Red Cross Hospital. It was April 16th, 1943. My Dad, Burt Crawford, had to bring my Mom, Ev, by toboggan to the hospital, then go and get the Doctor and bring him by toboggan so they could all celebrate my birth.

I, personally still remember many people and my parents always had good memories during the years they lived in Hornepayne.

We then moved to Nakina with my 3 brothers, Burt, Roy and Grant. That didn’t last long and it was on to Montreal.

I have been back to visit Hornepayne and Burt has done contract work on the railroad there in the past. Hopefully we all make it to the 75th anniversary if it doesn’t snow and close the roads.

I now live in Sudbury near the Science North and Laurentian Hospital. Send me an email if you will be visiting the area and we could meet for coffee.

Hornepayne, you are in my blood and I am looking forward to celebrating your 75th anniversary. The people make the town of Hornepayne. Thank all of you all for days gone by, for today and tomorrow and for keeping Hornepayne on the map.

I am proud to be a Canadian but most of all a Hornepayner.

Hornepayne, Ontario, you have a FANTASTIC WEB SITE. Keep it up!

Hi and Happy New Year to everyone up north. It is great to be able to see this website. Raymond and I are living in London with our two children. Alex is 61/2 and Raeane is 4. Hi to Mom (Molly Brown) and Bob down in Mexico. Hi to my brother Tim,his wife Corrie and their three children. We are planning on coming up for the 75th but I am sure we will be visiting before that. Alex loves Hornepayne. He enjoys the fishing and has a lot more freedom than here in the city. Anyways hope to see everyone soon and until then, try to keep warm.

Hi again Hornepayne; Still a great site.

Wishing you all the best in 2002.

One question though, could anyone tell me how George Stevens can get so many moose while sitting behind the counter in his restaurant recounting the many safaries he has lead? I am also wondering if he still is managing that TURKEY FARM he and Eastman started, back in the 80s?

Nice to see all the familiar names writing in to comment on this superb site.

thanks again, see you all soon

Just wishing everyone up there a Happy New Year. I had fun on New Year's Eve, I worked at a bar in downtown Toronto called Reilly's as a bouncer, only had to throw three people out.

Well just saying hello and have a wonderful year.

Hope to be up there soon
